Jobs in Senegal

I am amazed at the way people earn a living here. There are not many jobs so people use their imagination to create many types of jobs. Some jobs that have amazed me are people who carry cartoons of eggs to sell, bags of water, brooms, and many others. Below are a few pictures of what people do here. The average person makes $5/day.
 A tire store.
People use fire to cook, so these people sell pieces of wood.
People use horse carts for transportation and in this store they sell horse food.
Empty lots are used to grow lettuce and are usually watered by drawing water from a well and watering with buckets often when temperature is 35C.
This guy is selling bags for when people buy things in the market.
 A fruit stand.

Some of these fishing boats will go out to the ocean for a couple of months.
 A broom seller.
 Selling strawberries. Excellent balancing skills.
 A wood carver.
Selling jewellery on the beach.

Lily is 10 months!

Auntie Nicole had fun doing a little photo shoot with Lily.  She sure loves to share her smiles.

presents from Canada

So teck decks are quite a common sight at Wapanohk School but these kids had no idea what to do with these strange objects.  Rob showed them a few tricks and their faces lit up with the hugest smiles and then the show started!  So much fun to watch.
